Today was the final day of the trip and tomorrow we head back to New York. The start of today was great as I was able to sleep in an entire ten minutes longer than my husband and mom. Those ten minutes felt like an all inclusive resort at the Bahamas. After my time at the all inclusive resort, I was straight back into the Wild West. My son and eldest daughter opened the bedroom door so hard the door knob nearly went through the wall and they were screaming good morning (as crazy as it sounds I love when they do this). They wanted to go to the private beach. I take them up on their aggressive demand to go to the private beach and it was delightful. All three of the children played in the lazy river and for at least one hour didn’t beat each other up. It was like I was back at the all inclusive resort until I wasn’t- I was back in the sh*t storm. My son decided it was time to amp things up and leave a few presents for us on the beach. Our maximum time for peace and quiet could not go beyond 60 minutes. We did get some good photos (not of the poop) when all the kids were playing (nicely). After the beach, we cleaned up and went into town. On the way, my youngest daughter fell asleep. This is always when things get nutty. Do you wake the child up or sit in the car while your husband and other kids enjoy Main Street? Well, we woke up the fire breathing dragon. If anyone knows this child, she can run an Italian mafia just like her grandmother. She will push your buttons then turn round and say “I love you, Dad” and blow a kiss. We feel bad for whoever she dates or marries. The fire breathing dragon did not let anyone enjoy their ice cream - she wanted everyone’s ice cream and no one could look at her. She did not cheer up until the Carousel ride. A nice loud blast of Taylor Swift and a pony and this kid was back- full throttle. Ready to wipe daddy’s pockets clean with carousel rides and toys. My son thankfully did not bless us with any presents during this little excursion. And my eldest daughter only asked us 5,000 times to go to the toy store. My husband and I just wanted ice cream and to take a stroll. Instead we were both overstimulated, dizzy (from this high speed carousel ride) and out of cash. It was great. Later in the day after dinner, my eldest decided to take the twins for pony rides, only she was the pony and everyone had a concussion afterwords. Finally, I was able to get all the kids to sleep- easiest bed time of the week in the rental, until my son decided at 2 am he wants to become the exorcist. He jumps out of his bed, runs into my room and is screaming crying. My mom wakes up and we are trying to clam this child down. My mother is calling her family in Italy to start a Novena because she’s convinced her grandson is possessed. She’s got the rosary beads and all. Next thing you know she’s whipping out small teensy tiny tupperwares of holy water. The demonic screams only lasted a good 45 minutes and only stopped once we found the baby shark marathon. BOOM the kid smiles- it’s like he was no longer possessed. If you ask my mother it was the Novena, if you ask me it was gas and Baby Shark. Finally, he closes his eyes and goes back to sleep. I look over five minutes later and this child is smiling peacefully. This kid goes to sleep smiling while I have four broken ribs, a black eye, a torn ACL and I smell like holy water. I can’t wait to see what the car ride home tomorrow brings- I just laid out my head gear and shin guards to prepare for whatever may come. My mom has the holy water ready and the rosary beads. We are not sure what we are in for.
